Top 5 Best Book Covers

Because I like to pick random books off the shelf I often find myself judging books by their covers. How else would I choose? Well I could research them first but what's the fun in that? So I decided to make a short list of my top 5 favourite book covers, in no particular order:

1-      The Night Circus –

The cover of the night circus reflects the book perfectly, mysterious and magical. I had no idea what the book was about when I picked it up other than a circus being the main focus and even a few pages in I still wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen, so the cover was what mainly drew me to the book.

2-      The Cardturner –

I reviewed this earlier but I don’t think I mentioned how much I liked the book cover.  I have the blue UK edition which is my favourite. Again I didn’t know what I was about to read when I bought it because there wasn’t much of a blurb but I wasn’t disappointed.

3-      Hush, hush –

A monochrome, silvery-grey angel falling from the sky. Probably the best of all the covers from the series. I don’t know why I do, but I just like this one.

4-      Fallen -

One of the risks of judging a book by its cover – disappointment. I liked the cover but I didn’t really like the book.

5-      City of Bones –

I haven’t actually read this book yet but I thought the cover was interesting.

What are your favourite book covers?

  1. The pacing of Night Circus is very slow, but if you're a patient reader you might like it :) I didn't so much, the graphic imagery was amazing tho! Still the cover is gorgeous as are all the covers you featured here. Can't wait to read more from your blog! Happy Sunday!

  2. I'm not normally a fan of slowly paced books but I decided to have more patience with this one. But I'll have to agree that the imagery is really great and is probably what saved it from being a bit boring.

  5. I love the cover of The Night Circus! Although right now I would have to say that my favourite cover would be Blackbirds by Chuck Wendig!

Cassandra Clare's books too all have great covers!

I loved the Night Circus cover. Kind of proof of how important cover art is because I basically read the book because I fell in love with the cover.

  8. Nice to see everyone loves The Night Circus's cover as much as I do!

Thanks Lynn L, I just checked out the Blackbirds cover and wow... I can see why you love it. It's so creative. If I do another Top 5 I'll definitely have to consider it.

365_books_a_year, I read The Night Circus because of the lovely cover too. It's funny how much some of us rely on an awesome cover to decide what we read.

Thanks for following ShadyLane, I'm following you back. Nice blog by the way, I especially love the background.
